I am 42 years old and have qualified with Cum Laude in BTech: Electrical Engineering, recently qualified with distinction for my Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management and this year, I have completed my Master in Business Administration (B Aggregate).
As a current member of the Springs Leadership Team, my role as Manufacturing Systems Manager is to drive innovation at Springs Cidery which is the flagship of Distell which is now part of Heineken Beverages. My primary role at Spring is to digitally transform this cidery from a traditional cidery to a smart cidery. Some of the digital initiatives that are currently occurring are MES stability, use of Real Wear VR googles to assist technicians during breakdowns with OEMs from overseas countries and 3D printing.
I am also part of the strategic digital transformation initiative team (Centre of Excellence) which constantly looks at further innovations and integration of new digital transformation platforms into every area of work. Involved to new project to roll out MES OEE for all Distell plants. Other tasks are to ensure that governance and compliance of automation and control is adhered to, in regards to design, standards and implementation.

ABInBev (Previously known as South African Breweries) Position: Manufacturing Systems Manager (Part of Alrode Leadership Team) Period: 01 October 2019 – 31 May 2021 Role and Responsibilities: Based at SAB Alrode (Biggest brewery In Africa)
Achievement: • Six Sigma - White Belt Certification • Led team to successfully upgrade Wonderware SCADA from 2012 to 2014 without assistance from manufacturer. • Managed migration of virtual servers from Gen8 mature cluster to Gen10 new cluster without causing any downtime to Alrode. • Managed team with assistance from Solutions team for successfully implementation of Brewery of the Future initiatives at Alrode.
ABInBev (Previously known as South African Breweries) Position: Process Control Engineer Period: 04 June 2015 – 30 September 2019 Role and Responsibilities: Based at SAB Alrode (Biggest brewery In Africa) • Facilitation, implementation and project management of automation and control systems projects to satisfy the requirements of production within budget and timelines.
• Identified and motivated technical CAPIN justification.
• Ensured the integrity and reliability of production systems software and hardware from PLC devices to ERP system.
• Developed and maintained all systems components documentation as well as its integrity.
• Coached, guided and assisted with training of all production employees.
• Assisted with ensuring that the system architecture environment remained aligned with the regional manufacturing systems standards and beer division standards.
• Continuous Improvement of software, maintenance and fault-finding knowledge within production.
• Supported change management process.
• Implemented effective problem solving to improve productive of plant.
• Upgraded AOS, GR and Top server licencing.
• Maintaining of Hyper V virtualised cluster.
• Experience on ACP thin manager and clients.

Business Connexion (Previously known as Quad Automation) Position: Lead Engineer Period: 15 October 2007 – 31 May 2015 Projects: Based at Hudson & Knight Refinery in Unilever Boksburg • Upgraded 4 PLC’s from old standards to Quad Automation’s standards of software.
• Programmed PLC’s using Allen Bradley software ( RSLogix 5000 V15 – V19) • Scheduling of control net.
• Converted SCADA mimics from RSView to Wonderware. ( Archestra 3.0 and Intouch 10.0) • Was involved in populating objects, creating graphics on objects, scripting of field attributes.
• Trained operators to work and understand Wonderware SCADA.
• Was involved in upgrading SCADA system to Wonderware. Hudson & Knight have 3500 I/O and 9 client applications.
• Quad Automation has a support contract with Hudson & Knight where I remote support the plant (24, 7) for 3 weeks of every month. I have been doing this for the past 4 years.
• Worked on RSBatch. Created recipes, edited tags, active step changing etc.
• Upgrade RSBatch V5.0 to RSBatch V11.0 • Have been exposed to Microsoft SQL server database, store procedures and database querying.
• Create and manage maintenance plans for SQL databases.
• Setup and configure Management Information Systems (MIS) and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) servers.
• Worked with Wonder ware MES Client 4.0. Configured items, processes and operations in MES client. Created BOM’s and specifications for recipes.
• Setup servers with Microsoft OS of Server 2003 and 2008.
• Certified Wonderware developer for Archestra 4.0.
• Recently upgraded SCADA system to Archestra 3.1 and Intouch 10.1.
• Involved constantly in designing and improving of the software so the plant works to its maximum capacity. Continuously upgrade software in the plant as small projects arise.
• Assist Process Engineers in analysing process and software in order to bring about innovations.
• Quote, plan and design projects to customer specifications. Ensure that standards and timelines are adhered to.
• Since Business Connexion has been in charge of software and support contract, this refinery has been voted NUMBER ONE REFINERY in Simedarby (Malaysian Owned Company) for the last 2 years.
