Nqaba Shezi is a Johannesburg-based film and media professional who completed a Film degree at the University of Johannesburg in 2019, with additional studies in Communication. He has gained diverse industry experience across assistant producing, research, and camera operation, working both on set and behind the scenes. He has written a made-for-TV film (Ubuhle Bendalo), contributed as a research assistant on the upcoming documentary Kazi, and produced a podcast for Looped Pictures, where he also developed skills in story development and pitch compilation.
Currently, he works at Arena Holdings as a Junior Producer and Junior Camera Operator, creating content for Ignition TV, Afrimaxx, and The Home Channel. His role includes planning and shooting reels for these platforms. Passionate about authentic African storytelling, he continues to develop original work rooted in heritage, imagination, and purpose.
Junior Producer/Camera Operator at Arena Holdings (2025-01 – Present)
As a Junior Producer at Arena Holdings, I support senior producers in the research and development of television inserts for The Home Channel and IgnitionTV. My responsibilities include assisting with scripting, pre-production, and on-set filming, as well as cleaning and strapping promos and completed episodes for broadcast. I also contribute to the scripting and production of social media content aligned with the channels' brand strategy.

Served as a General Assistant at Looped Pictures, supporting multiple departments with a focus on administration and operations. Managed office coordination, including scheduling, production calendars, correspondence, and internal communication. Handled document preparation, record-keeping, and workflow organization to support production efficiency.
Worked as Podcast Producer for Scene and Heard, leading guest outreach, research, and shoot logistics. Contributed as a Researcher and Junior Writer, providing creative input and developing draft content. Oversaw office management tasks, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and supporting both staff and productions.
Research Assistant/Screenwriter/Camera Operator at Freelance (2020-01 – 2024-01)
Worked at Ingwe Studios as a Researcher, gathering and simplifying information from diverse sources including digital media, print, and social platforms. Took on archivist responsibilities during documentary development, organizing and preserving research materials. Served as a Production Assistant on set, coordinating talent and extras while ensuring readiness for scheduled scenes.
Managed on-set logistics, including props, equipment, and schedules, while supporting the 1st and 3rd AD teams. Acted as a key communication link between cast, crew, and departments, resolving logistical challenges to maintain workflow. Freelanced (2020–2024) with Voiceless Digital as a Camera Operator, Assistant Producer, and Vision Mixer for SuperSport Schools live productions, supporting set management, logistics, and scheduling.
