• Secure and control a crime scene
• Search for evidence and seize exhibits
• Utilize relevant investigation aids
• Identify victims, suspects and witnesses and ensure that they are dealt with appropriately
• Gather evidential information
• Identify, trace and locate possible suspects
• Interview suspects and take statements
• Interview the complainant and keep him/her informed throughout the investigation
• Submit dockets for inspection
• Submit report on investigation statistics
• Present evidence in court if required
• Liaise with relevant stakeholders before and during the trial
• Ensure availability of witness and evidence
• Identify, recruit, interview and select possible informers
• Register informers and ensure that informer files are submitted for inspection
