My name is Rafique Railoun, and I’m the Cyber Security Lead for the vulnerability remediation department. With over 18 years of experience in IT and cybersecurity, I specialize in managing client coordination, vulnerability remediation, and improving security environments. I’m passionate about finding efficient solutions, and I’ve developed tools that help streamline remediation processes, saving on third-party costs.

I’m skilled in a range of platforms and tools, including Qualys, MS Endpoint Security, Azure Management, and Linux. Currently, I’m enhancing my knowledge by studying IT Glue and Junior Penetration Testing on TryHackMe. I’m also dedicated to improving team communication and actively participate in internal learning sessions to foster growth.

I live in Cape Town, South Africa, and follow a Halaal diet. I’m married with 3 children, have a Code B driver's license, and maintain good health, although I have a peanut allergy. I see myself as a hard worker, quick learner, and team player, always looking for new challenges and opportunities to grow.

I have over 18 years of professional experience in IT and cybersecurity, specializing in vulnerability management, endpoint security, and infrastructure support. I am skilled in using the Qualys Vulnerability Platform for proactive vulnerability remediation and have extensive experience with MS Endpoint Security and Azure Endpoint Management to secure diverse environments. My expertise extends to remote monitoring through N-Able Ncentral RMM, enabling efficient system management and monitoring.

With a strong background in server management, I have managed MS Server environments (2003-2019), including Active Directory, Azure AD, and small business setups. I am also proficient in network security solutions like SonicWall, FortiGate, and Sophos UTM, ensuring robust protection for client networks. Additionally, I have a high level of competence in backup and recovery tools, such as Symantec Backup Exec and Veeam B&R, providing reliable data protection.

My experience spans various operating systems, including Windows, macOS, and Linux, as well as email and collaboration platforms like MS Exchange (2003-365) and the Office Suite (2003-365). I also have proficiency in managing cloud services through SharePoint, OneDrive, MS365, and Azure, reflecting my comprehensive expertise across multiple IT infrastructures.

I completed a comprehensive PC Technician/Systems Engineering course at I.T. Business Campus, covering various essential IT skills, including Windows 2000, Windows XP, CompTIA A+ Core, and Operating Systems, Networking+, Linux+, Server+, and Security+ certifications. I also gained knowledge in Cisco CCNA, MCDST (70-271, 70-272), and Microsoft certifications (MCP, MCTS) through training at Bytes Tech.

Additional professional training includes SonicWall CSSA from Westcon and Agile Coaching Level 1 from Cyberlogic. I’m currently enhancing my skills with IT Glue, Qualys Online, and practical security training on TryHackMe, where I am focused on Junior Penetration Testing. I am also studying for the CompTIA CySA+ certification, expanding my expertise in cybersecurity analytics and defense strategies.
