Hi, my name is Rhys, and I'm 23 years old. I'm originally from Durban, KZN, but now am currently studying my third year of Social Work, majoring in Psychology at the University of Pretoria. I'm a hardworking, outgoing, dedicated individual looking to assist a family in Pretoria, Centurion, Midrand & surrounding areas.
I'm available throughout the week& flexible on weekends. I'm a fast learner, who is very punctual & open-minded. I'm comfortable working with children from ages 3+. I have over 2000 hours in working with children.
I have practical experience across diverse clinical and educational settings. I worked at Steve Biko Academic Hospital as a Medical Social Worker in the psychiatric ward, orthopaedic ward, and emergency department, where I provided crisis intervention, psychosocial assessments, counselling, and discharge planning within multidisciplinary teams. I also have several years of experience as an online English teacher, supporting both adults and children in language development, communication skills, and confidence-building in one-on-one and group formats.
In addition, I provide TRE® sessions both online and in person, guiding individuals through somatic release processes to reduce tension, support nervous system regulation, and improve emotional wellbeing.
I hold a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree at NQF Level 8, where I trained in clinical social work practice, psychosocial assessment, and trauma-informed intervention. I completed an Honours degree in Psychology (NQF Level 8), specialising in human behaviour, mental health, research methods, and psychological assessment. In addition to my academic qualifications, I am a certified TRE® (Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises) Provider, trained in somatic regulation, neurophysiology of stress, and trauma-release techniques.
My education integrates body-based, clinical, and psychological perspectives, providing a strong foundation for working with individuals in both therapeutic and wellbeing contexts.
