Manager- Health Safety and Environment
Worked for a USD 3B+ turnover harbor management company based in Dubai, responsible for driving the HSE culture throughout the business units and advising key business leaders on all aspects of HSE.
Key Responsibilities
- Managed a team of 12 HSE professionals (2 senior officers and 10 safety officers) and integral member of the container terminals management team. Core responsibility for two container terminals with 12 million Teu throughput per annum.
- Established Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures incorporating best practices, ensuring the port complies with current legislation, approved codes of practice and international treaties.
- Slashed serious incident rates by designing and implementing risk reduction and loss prevention strategies and incorporated an HSE management systems that was accredited as per ISO standards.
- Communicated and contributed regularly with Corporate HSE and benchmark partners to develop and implement uniform methods and practices throughout all port operations globally.
- Serious incident lead investigator and top-level investigation approver.
- Grew a culture of HSE by implement HSE training and awareness programs.
- Set HSE KPI’s to challenge HSE results by identifying trends and setting lead and lag indicator matrixes.
- Showcased HSE issues and success across the business using statistical and other analytical tools.
- Emergency response Commander for top level events for the business unit and incident advisor to external emergency response teams like port authority, fire department, police, and other government entries.
- Reduced environmental impacts from leaking containers through holistic management of the hazardous leaking containers area.
- Tracked HSE compliance during design and construction phases of Container terminal 3 and 4 and during expansion and automation of container terminal 2.
- Effectively resolved customer complaints and claims
- Rigorously managed my department and Business units HSE budgeting.
- Succeeded in building a positive HSE Culture across the business which resulted in consistent reduction in the number of accidents and incidents reported per annum.

- Achieved ISO 45001 accreditation for management systems.
- Reduced the injury frequency rate by establishing formalized reporting and investigation standards and implementing risk management concepts that led to the elimination of hazards.
