I'm a native English Speaker and a qualified ESL teacher with 2 and a half year’s teaching experience in China. I have a BA Honours Degree in Motion Picture Medium (Film &
Drama), TEFL Certification and a TKT Young Learners Certificate from Cambridge.
After graduating from University, I took on a teaching job in China with the initial intent of partaking in cultural exchange. I soon discovered that this is a career path I see myself pursuing and quickly became passionate about laying a foundation for young learners in the field of education.
I taught English as an Additional Language at a Language School and then became a Homeroom teacher at a Bilingual Kindergarten.
After 2 and a half years, I decided to take some time to revisit my University Studies by doing further coursework in Drama before returning to teach. I returned to South Africa and did just that. I spent a year partaking in an intensive Drama and Self-Development course with an acting coach, performed in a theatre show, signed with an Actor’s Agent and freelanced as an actress.
During this time, we were hit with the Covid pandemic, which meant returning to China wouldn’t be an option for longer than I could’ve imagined. Now that the world has returned to some semblance of normalcy, I want to continue teaching full-time and impart the knowledge and skills I’ve gained in both Drama and ESL teaching on to young learners.
Outside of my working hours, I will be completing my PGCE teaching qualification and then move on to pursuing my Master's Degree in Education.
