with a year completed of in-service training in the civil engineering and building construction industry as a junior site engineer. I am interested in using acquired engineering and technical skills to gain experience in a consulting role.

As part of my work experience, I had the role of a Site Civil Engineer, where I was one of the team leaders on a construction site. My team had to construct the South Building of the Sable Park complex in Century City, Cape Town. I worked alongside another Civil Engineer, as well as a Senior General Foreman with over 30 years of experience.
My duties were to plan the construction process, estimate quantities, analyse quality assurance, work with site drawings regarding services, structures and foundations, set out structures according to said plans, ensure the construction methods were precise and correct, delegate work to labourers and subcontractors, while also teaching junior site formen about the quantities and construction methods. I worked on drainage sumps, foundational work, surface beds, elevator shafts, staircases, conventional concrete floors, transfer beams, post-tension concrete slabs, setting out entrance and exit roadworks, waterproofing, drainage, as well as setting out brickwork, plastering and finishes to be done.
Our team executed the job successfully and on time with the construction programme. I had to report to the Senior Site Foreman and the Senior Site Agent. As a team leader, I had to be present in all meetings, while also conduct meetings with subcontractors and general labourers.
