Supervision of the operations of the open and close electric arc furnaces (Submerged Arc Furnaces) 18, 21 and 54 MVA together with the Pre-Heater Kiln. Ensure that all the auxiliary equipments are working accordingly to the relevant standard to achieve the production safely. Ensure that risk assessments and toolbox talks are done before the starting of the jobs.

Ensure that the lock-out procedures are followed correctly in terms of shut-downs, break-downs as well as planned and unplanned shuts and maintenance times. Managing the performance of the team. Adhere to SHEQ standards.

Compile the shift report and ensure good shift hand-over.

Operating and controlling the open and close electric arc furnaces (Submerged Arc Furnaces) 18, 21 and 54 MVA with the Pre-Heater kiln. Responsible for the scada operations and the batching control of the raw materials. Planning and managing tapping times with the Shift Foreman.

Report all deviations to the Shift Foreman. Responsible for the power input of the furnace. Responsible for electrode management, cooling water system, alarm board system, gas handling, temperature, thermocouple and flow meters monitoring.

Liase with other departments (Engineering, Laboratory, Raw materials, Safety etc.) Enforce good housekeeping and safety standards to the team. Ensure and enforce that correct PPE for the correct job for the team is worn. Ensure good shift hand-over.
