I have had 26 years of working in a student centred, tertiary environment, with approximately 13 years of management experience. I have worked in five different areas of student service positions and have acquired an array of experience in areas of internship, admissions, academic administration, internationalisation, student support and financial aid. In addition, I have acquired various competencies in the areas of governance and implementation of Senate Policy and other governance policies, customer service and brand management, professional and effective communication, conflict management, effective people management, organisational and planning and problem solving.
My years of experience in working with local and international students have broadened my understanding of the higher education environment and the strategic roles we play in the holistic development of our students. The students’ experience of the higher education environment is critical is shaping their future. Their adjustment to living away from home, building new relationships, orientation to new environment, understanding different culture and ideology, adapting to different learning environments require focused and supportive initiatives by institutions.
