- Assess accident damage, corrosion, and structural defects on coach bodies.
- Remove, repair, and replace damaged panels, skins and spot welding equipment.
- Reshape and align body panels to manufacturer specifications to restore original geometry.
- Perform metal finishing and body filler work to achieve smooth, paint-ready surfaces.
- Fabricate and install components like luggage bays, service panels, interior trims, and body reinforcements.
- Cut, bend, and shape steel, aluminum, and composite materials for custom parts.

- Conduct pre-trip and scheduled inspections on coach bodies for cracks, rust, loose fittings, and safety hazards.
- Carry out preventative maintenance on bodywork, doors, windows, and emergency exits.
- Ensure all repairs meet SABS, DOT, and company safety standards for passenger transport.
- Document work done, parts used, and hours spent for job cards and maintenance logs.
- Operate and maintain workshop tools and equipment safely – grinders, welders, spray guns and hydraulic jacks.
- Collaborate with spray painters, mechanics, and auto electricians to complete coach repairs efficiently.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working area in line with operational health and safety requirements.
- Mentor apprentices and junior staff on best practices in panel beating and coach building.
- Perform quality checks before releasing vehicles back to operations.
- Work under pressure to meet tight turnaround times without compromising repair quality.
- Troubleshoot fitment and alignment issues on-site to minimize vehicle downtime.
