Suhail Mahomed

I'm someone who cares deeply about the natural world and the lives of animals, especially those in the ocean. I’ve always been drawn to storytelling, not just as a form of entertainment, but as a way to speak up for the voiceless—whether that’s whales, sharks, or endangered species. Growing up in South Africa shaped my view of nature, community, and justice, and I try to reflect that in the stories I write.

One of my main projects is a series called Mozart, a dinosaur-themed novel that explores survival, conflict, and the environment. I’m also working on Animals vs. Humans, a show centered around a young activist named Suhail, who, like me, believes that real change starts with compassion and courage.

Professionally, I’ve been developing my voice as both a writer and an advocate for the environment. I’ve had meaningful conversations with professionals in marine biology and environmental science, and I’m actively building experience in the conservation space. My focus is on combining storytelling, environmental awareness, and youth engagement to inspire change and protect the natural world.

Even though I’m still early in my career, I’m committed to making a lasting difference through the work I pursue and the values I stand for.

In Grade 12, I poured a lot of effort into Life Sciences because I genuinely cared about the subject. It wasn’t just about passing—biology fascinated me, especially when it came to topics like evolution, ecosystems, and the human body. I paid close attention in class, asked questions, and made sure to understand how everything connected, not just memorize facts.

I found myself especially drawn to anything related to the ocean, animal behavior, and environmental systems. Even though I didn’t take Physics, I made the most out of Life Sciences, using it as a foundation for my interest in marine biology and conservation.
