24-year record of excellence as a Telecommunication Technician with Marathon Communication, where I was responsible for High-speed internet installation, cable, FTTH, LTE and phone service for Corporate, commercial, and residential clients.
I have for the last 10 years worked with the cables team during working hours as well as afterhours where fiber cables have been damaged or stolen . More importantly, I have assisted them with national optic cutovers of 12F, 24F, 48F, 96F and 144F regularly as well as DCC09 (no light) on FTTH orders in Durban and the lower South Coast.
I have for the past 4 years performed conformance testing with testing of fibers for the build team as well as installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting of FTTH orders and faults. I am an expert on using fiber test equipment viz. OTDR, MAX tester, Power meter, Light source, and LFD.
I have used the IOLM function on the OTDR regularly from customer to exchange where it indicates the loss of every joint on that splitter cable. I have worked on all fiber elements including the Tenio joint, B8G, Buddy box and slim box to name a few. Here I would test, install, and repair fiber lines.
I also tested lines for POTN and 10ig for PMD and CD.I have also tested, labelled, and patched from the GPON to the customer and tested Internal fiber circuits (IFCs) on new build work. I can read and locate GPON ports as per the work instructions.
I have been for the past 5 years as a contract representative for customer services. My duties include ordering, capturing, and distributing of FTTH and ADSL equipment to service providers daily. I also conduct quality checks for orders completed by contractors (SPs) as well as assisting them on problems and challenges they may experience when receiving an order/installation
I have for the past 4 years been part of the quality team involved with quality, cables and customer services conducting final quality audits (FQAs) for new FTTH build projects where I checked every aspect of a new build starting from the planning stage including IQA, QA and FQAs.
