Part of a dedicated team of 32 Secondary School Teachers at a school with an enrolment of 1200 learners aged 12 – 17 years, preparing them for their National Senior Certificate (NSC) Examinations.
Plan and deliver interesting, innovative and engaging Biology,
Chemistry & Physics lessons, which capture and retain learners’
attention and are conducive to learning, ultimately preparing learners for their NSC examinations.
Use a variety of teaching strategies (collaborative learning, positive reinforcement, modelling and explicit instruction) and resources,
including modern day technology, to meet diverse learners’ needs.
Monitor and maintain learners’ progress through classwork,
coursework and project marking, and provide extra support for learners with challenges.
Communicate individual learner’s progress directly with the learner and with the parents/carers.
Manage learners’ behaviour in line with school policies and procedures, ensuring learners’ behaviour remains in line with the school code of conduct and taking appropriate disciplinary action where necessary.
Responsible for a class each school year, supporting the learners through any academic and personal difficulties, reporting any safeguarding concerns to the School Based Support Team (SBST).
Arrange, attend and participate in extracurricular activities such as excursions, sporting activities and School Governing Body (SGB)
events to establish rapport with parents and teachers.
Engage in various Continuing Professional Teacher Development
(CPTD) programs and staying abreast with new resources, teaching methods and national objectives.
Increased the number of learners achieving grades A – C in Life
Sciences, NSC examinations by 18% in 2022, from 65% to 83%
Recognised for improving grade 11 Life Sciences learners’
performance from 70% to 86, 5% in 2021, exceeding the provincial target of 70%.
Appointed to mark Life Sciences paper 2, NSC examinations (2019 –
