Professional Nurse at Elizabeth Ross District Hospital (2015-04 – Present)

Mental Health Care Coordinator - I ensure rights, dignity, compassion and understanding of mental health care users is preserved through health education for users, families and staff working at the hospital. Through this we can ensure that the Mental Health Care Act No 17 of 2002 is adhered to by all those who are involved in the caring of the users including South African Police Services. I ensure all the proper procedures and documentation is done for the users whether it be 24 hours and 72 hours observation or transfer to the Regional Hospital or down referral to the local clinics for continued treatment.

I work in partnership with our Social worker to provide extra care and support to those users who find themselves in an altered state of mind due to substance abuse and we ensure family is involved step by step. I work as a Professional Nurse in Male General Ward and 2nd in charge.

Therapeutic Specialist at South African National Blood Services (2012-09-02 – 2015-04-05)

• I did Platelets and Plasma collections and donations.
• Worked as a Donor Care Officer where people would come and donate whole blood at our clinic and sometimes do mobile clinic.

I provided care, treatment and rehabilitation for Acute Mental Health Care Users in an Acute Ward, State Patients in Forensic Ward and Chronic Mental Health Care Users.
