Industrial Design Intern at Skeg Product Development (2008-05 – 2008-07)

I did a short internship with Skeg in my 3rd year of University. I worked alongside some talented and experienced designers and engineers there, who guided me in developing 5 products, some of which went all the way to production and distribution

Furniture and cabinet designer/draftsman at Make Furniture (2010-06 – 2013-05)

My duties there consisted of client consultation, design of high-end contemporary furniture and cabinetry based on client consultations, engineering and production facilitation of pieces to be delivered. I learned a great deal about joinery, steel fabrication and production specification there, and had the privilege of working with some of the most talented interior and furniture designers in South Africa

Mid Level Product Designer at Barrows Global (2014-01 – 2016-04)

Barrows is a multi-national retail marketing firm. During my time there I developed retail marketing strategies and designed point of sale display stands, and occasionally, entire stores and pop-up stores. In 2015 I was flown to Singapore and China to support their start-up Studios. My experience at Barrows taught me a lot about people and how to work effectively in teams. I still do the occasional freelance job for various Barrows studios around the globe

Owner and Designer at Theo Olivier Design Company (2016-04 – Present)

I provide a flexible remote design service to retail marketing firms, product development firms and start-ups around the globe. Starting Theo Olivier Design has afforded me quite a diverse portfolio, but with a combined 12 years of retail marketing experience, my main focus remains POSM and retail design
