I am a positive, enthusiastic, and self-motivated person who understands the importance of attention to detail, a positive work ethic, timekeeping, and excellent communication skills required for a role such as this one. I believe the experiences I have gained so far will enable me to carry out my duties in line with the expectations of this role. The skills, qualities, and attributes I possess that will be of benefit to this role are an ability to work as part of a team to achieve the company's goals; a desire to continually develop within the role, an honest and reliable approach to my work; a willingness to approach all tasks; proficient in all types of Microsoft Word applications.

UFS Biochemistry Laboratory | Bloemfontein, South Africa 2022

Lab Assistant

• Provided postgraduate students with assistance with their projects.
• Maintained a neat and tidy workspace, and ensured the lab’s shelves were stocked with necessary lab apparatus and stationery.
• Learned how a laboratory operates.
• Required excellent time management skills.

Peer Educator

• Worked with the department of Student Counselling and Development
• Identified the needs of the student populace and acted as a liaison between the students and the necessary departments/department heads on campus.
• Worked with a team to plan and execute various awareness campaigns on campus relating to various social issues ­­– with a focus on disability awareness.
• Required me to be high-energy, and positive to garner the interest of students.
• Handled confidential information with care and discretion.

Peer Mentor

• Presented weekly presentations and facilitated meetings with mentees.
• Provided emotional/academic support to first-time entering students on campus and virtually.
• As a peer mentor, tact and diplomacy were traits that I possessed that were of the utmost importance as sensitive information had to be handled with discretion.

I have obtained a BSc in Biochemistry and Genetics from the University of the Freestate. I have been recognised twice by the Golden Key Society for achieving the top 15% position in my course.
