I am a costume designer and stylist. I have entered this area of work in an unconventional way with a fine arts degree in sculpture and then an engineering degree to boot. I attended an Italian dress-making school throughout my fine arts degree and am largely self-taught in all other areas of fashion design. While I am new to the working world of costume design and styling, I have been making outfits for 20 years in a personal capacity.
I am a true problem solver and am incredibly organised as I have operated as the chief operating officer for a small start-up for the last year. I am open and curious about where my creative skills will take me next.
I have worked as an assistant on a few advertisement sets where I had to help with fittings and altering the garments. I have created bespoke birthday outfits for dress-up events for around 10 individuals ranging from mini-ballroom dresses to tiger suits.
I have made tailored pants and jackets for a small number of individuals for fancy-dress dance parties and have a portfolio of 15 outfits of festivalware and unusual dance outfits for my own personal use.
I have 3 years experience managing small business operations and managing the day-to-day running of the company. I am efficient and effective in the systems that I set up and allow for projects to get completed in good time.
I have 6 years experience as a lecturer and 5 years experience as a water and sanitation expert as well, but am moving out of these fields to pursue a more creative career path.
