I am a National Diploma graduate in Mechanical Engineering with 1 year 6 months experience in robotics mechanical design, CAD drafting, 3D CAD modelling, technical documentation, and engineering project support within a manufacturing environment. I have a dedicated remote work setup with an Asus Core i5 laptop running Windows 11 Home, a webcam, headset, stable Wi-Fi connectivity of up to 50 Mbps, and inverter backup support, allowing me to collaborate reliably with remote teams and meet project deadlines. I enjoy solving technical problems and working on projects that require accuracy, attention to detail, and practical engineering solutions.
Through my experience using Fides and SolidWorks, I have produced production-ready engineering drawings, supported manufacturing projects, and worked with technical documentation while following established engineering standards and procedures. I am highly organized, adaptable, and enjoy learning new software.
ROBOTICS MECHANICAL DESIGN INTERN at DESIGN GROUP (PTY) LTD (2023-01 – 2024-01)
At Design Group, I worked as a Robotics Mechanical Design Intern where I supported engineering design and manufacturing projects within a fast-paced production environment. I designed and completed a CAD training tool using Fides software within two months to support intern learning and technical development. This experience strengthened my ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and transform engineering requirements into accurate, production-ready CAD designs.
I was responsible for producing detailed 2D engineering drawings, 3D CAD models, and DXF manufacturing files while ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with project requirements and engineering standards. I also contributed to a manufacturing project for an overseas client involving robotic fixture modifications and production support. As part of this project, I modified up to 10 robotic fixture models and generated over 100 production drawings following established standard operating procedures (SOPs), ensuring the drawings were clear, accurate, and suitable for manufacturing.
Working with technical documentation and project records using Microsoft Excel taught me how to interpret engineering information, maintain organized documentation, manage drawing revisions, and ensure engineering records remained accurate throughout the design process. I became comfortable working with detailed engineering data while supporting projects that required precision, consistency, and close attention to detail. I applied my understanding of robot joint movement, payload limitations, and mechanical design principles when modifying fixture components and identifying opportunities for design improvement.
Through design optimization, I contributed to reducing fixture component weight and supporting cost-saving initiatives while ensuring the designs remained practical and manufacturable. Beyond the technical aspects of the role, I collaborated with local and overseas engineering teams using Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and Google Calendar, strengthening my communication skills and confidence working in remote, cross-functional environments while supporting engineering and manufacturing projects.
MATHEMATICS TUTOR at MAP ACADEMY TUTORS (REMOTE) (2020-01 – 2022-01)
At MAP Academy Tutors, I worked remotely with Grade 10–12 learners, providing Mathematics tutoring and academic support through Microsoft Teams. This role strengthened my ability to communicate clearly, manage my time effectively, and work independently while maintaining a structured and engaging online environment. I also gained experience using Microsoft Excel to track learner progress and adapt my approach to meet individual learning needs.
NATIONAL DIPLOMA in MECHANICAL ENGINEERING – CAPE PENINSULA UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY (2021-01 – 2023-01)
