I have recently finished my bachelor’s degree at the University of Calgary and am very passionate about working in aquatic leadership. Throughout university as well as junior and senior high I have worked in aquatics in both volunteer and paid positions. Starting in 2016, I began working as a Swim Instructor and Headguard/Lifeguard at the Trico Centre wave pool. Over the years I have taught all ranges of swimming levels and all ages. After two years of working as a lifeguard and instructor, I was selected to be the Aquatics Summer Student, the youngest in Trico company history. This is a full-time leadership position which involves organization and continuing to work directly with children and helping them to learn about water safety. I made many long-term improvements in the aquatic and day camp departments regarding children’s safety, communication and teamwork. The following summer I was again chosen for the government-grant position, allowing me to gain even more experience as a day camp counselor and lifeguard supervisor. Following my time at the Trico Centre, I then worked as a Team Lead Lifeguard and Instructor at the Calgary JCC for two years. During university I also volunteered in a campus organization focused around helping young children with disabilities feel comfortable in the water and learn to swim.
