Incoming Second-Year Nursing Student at Toronto Metropolitan University
I had the amazing opportunity to work at Belmont House for my first clinical placement from January to April of this year. During my time there, I created personalized care plans for clients with dementia and anxiety, supported Personal Support Workers (PSWs) in safe resident transfers, and shadowed PSWs in maintaining client hygiene. I monitored vital signs to manage potential health issues early and assisted clients with daily activities, always using affirming language to motivate them. My passion for nursing was evident in how much I loved working at Belmont House, where I strived to enhance the overall care experience for each resident.
As a nursing student at Toronto Metropolitan University, I have gained extensive experience through rigorous lab practices and academic studies. I have learned to perform a variety of clinical assessments and diagnostic tests, such as measuring vital signs, conducting head-to-toe physical examinations, and utilizing various medical instruments to assess patient health. My education has equipped me with the skills to accurately interpret and respond to a range of clinical scenarios, preparing me for a successful career in nursing. This hands-on experience has fueled my passion for healthcare and commitment to providing exceptional patient care.
