As an intermediate-senior level (grades 7-12) English & Drama teacher, I am deeply passionate and motivated about guiding young learners on their path to success. In addition to my classroom responsibilities, I have pursued various professional opportunities, such as before/after school extracurriculars, newcomer youth programming, and seasonal day camps, to extend my educational impact.
Furthermore, my love for linguistics has led me to obtain a Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) certificate with OCELT and ICTEAL designations.
My professional experience is diverse and spans across multiple industries and roles. Working as a Language Instructor and Youth Program Specialist at the Newcomer Centre of Peel, allowed me to develop and teach engaging lessons, partner with various companies and community organizations, and facilitate volunteer training sessions. I have also worked in client administration at Citigroup Financial Services, taught tennis at the University of Toronto, and served as a professor's teaching assistant at the University of Windsor. Additionally, I have experience as a Theatre Camp Counsellor and Supervisor, Classroom Monitor and Student Supply Teacher for the Peel District School Board, and Assistant Supervisor and Baker at Tim Horton's.
I possess relevant education history for working with language learners of all ages as well as in youth programs. In particular, I have completed a graduate certificate program in Teaching English as a Second Language; a specialized training in teaching English to non-native speakers. Additionally, I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Drama in Education, with a minor in Psychology, which provide valuable skills in communication, creativity, and understanding the learning needs of youth and adults alike. The Intermediate/Senior level (Dramatic Art & English) teacher training I received at the University of Western Ontario, further enhanced my teaching skills and prepared me to work in a variety of educational settings.
