Claudia Castonguay

Hi! I'm a very passionate UI/UX and graphic designer from North Vancouver, BC. I've always loved getting my hands on anything technology-related - especially computers! I admire seeing well-thought-out, appealing, and effective designs for apps, games, and websites; it inspires me to create my own best designs!

I have over two years of experience doing design and front-end development for various responsive web applications. I also have the same amount of experience doing graphic design for different creative projects. I've made digital branding and marketing assets too in several different styles.

With my experience doing digital design, I've become very comfortable using the Adobe Suite. I understand the process of conducting user research, and prototyping website designs.

I currently am working as a Retail Sales Representative for Advantage Solutions, but I am striving to get my foot in the door of the technology industry; I'm hoping to work as a digital designer/UI/UX/graphic designer to pursue my passions!

I have previously worked for a small start-up interior design business named Shima Javan Interior Design. My role was a mix of being a Web Designer/Developer/Digital Marketer. I worked for this company as a part of my Practicum for the Digital Design and Development program I took at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT).

During the 2 months that I worked for Shima Javan, I worked with one other co-worker to design a website for her business from scratch. The website was developed using Squarespace along with some custom CSS to achieve the desired result. I also provided a marketing plan for her business to help promote herself on different social medias using different strategies.

Lastly, I helped animate a promotional 30-second animation using Adobe After Effects to showcase the website we created for her.

Currently, I work for Advantage Solutions as a Retail Sales Representative. I have worked for this company since November 2021. My primary roles for this job are to ensure the presence of our clients' products in stores and to secure product displays. I also place advertising materials for our clients in stores and develop and maintain relationships with store managers and staff.

I studied a program named Digital Design and Development (D3) at BCIT for 2 years (September 2019 - May 2021). This program involves learning how to prototype and design web applications, front-end development, motion graphics, graphic design, and digital marketing.

There are also some business-related courses in this program such as marketing, entrepreneurship, and project management.
