I am a 23 year old university graduate from Scotland who loves everything the outdoors has to offer. I have lived in Whistler for over a year now and currently work full – time at Caramba. Although most of my employment experience entails hospitality work, I have always loved active and sociable jobs that carry a physically engaging nature.
One of my greatest interests is sport and fitness. My love for the outdoors lends itself to a strong passion for adventure sports, such as Skiing, Mountain Biking, and Hiking. Throughout growing up, I also competed in several team sport environments, such as Football, Rugby and Basketball. I also take a keen interest to music and film, and am slowly starting to feel the North American influence on my taste in music.
My love for team sports also translates to my preferred employment environments. I thoroughly enjoy jobs where I am able to engage with others regularly, whether its working together with colleagues to achieve shared designated goals, or interacting with members of the public and ensuring they have positive and lasting experiences. I also particularly enjoy jobs that carry a physically demanding nature, whether it's being on the move for long periods of time or lifting/carrying heavy objects and equipment. I would also like think I am quite resilient, and so am happy working in tough environments, such as adverse weather conditions or carrying out long hours consecutively.
Hospitality - I have worked several years in this industry. I have gained a lot of experience bartending and waiting tables, and have also completed some work in the kitchen as a line cook. I have also been involved in the setup and maintenance of venues, as a lot of the events I worked at were impromptu.
Sports Camps - I have volunteered at a sports camp, and worked at a children's summer camp in USA. This has involved me carrying out activities for the kids, living with them and ensuring they are having fun in a safe and inclusive environment.
Freelance Landscaping - Back in Scotland I helped my Uncle with several of his Gardening projects for his different clients. This taught me several landscaping techniques and practices, subsequently leading me to carry out some freelance landscaping work here in Whistler. This has involved me cleaning/restoring gardens and planting/maintaining flower beds. In doing so, I have learnt how to use power tools and various pieces of landscaping equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
