I started my GIS journey back when I participated in the Sea Cadets. Because of my perfect attendance during regular meetups, I was eligible to go to the summer camp at Her Majesty's Canadian Ship Quadra for further training. During my time at the camp, we went up hiking at Forbidden Plateau and saw the wonders of nature and the splendor of God's creation at full display. When we came back on base, we also did classes and exercises in orienteering.
That sparked an interest in Geography in general.
Fast forward a few years from that moment, I was doing studies at Kwantlen Polytechnic University. Although I had initial difficulties, I ended up getting A and A+ grades on both C++ and Java programming courses eventually.
That cultivated an interest in Computer Science and programming.
Combining both interests led me to the path of taking courses in GIS eventually fulfilling the Spatial Information Systems certificate at SFU and Geographic Information Systems Advanced Diploma at BCIT. At this moment, I am currently looking forward to utilizing my GIS skill set in an industry where I can continue to develop, expand, and grow my abilities so I can become a strong asset to an organization moving forward.
