Passionate Community Service Worker with a strong background in public health, gender equity, and social justice. Experienced in supporting vulnerable populations, including women in informal economies and refugee communities. Currently pursuing graduate studies in Environmental Health Sciences, with research focused on the gendered impacts of COVID-19 policies on food security.
Skilled in community engagement, health policy analysis, and program development. Brings extensive experience from both Kenya and Canada, combining local knowledge with global insight. Committed to advancing health equity through inclusive, evidence-based approaches that empower communities and improve access to essential services.
I am a dedicated Community Support Worker with hands-on experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and marginalized populations in Canada. I have worked with organizations such as Excel Society in Edmonton, where I provided personalized care, behavioural support, and advocacy for clients’ access to essential services. My public health experience includes contributing to COVID-19 response efforts, promoting access to food and health services for newcomers, and participating in community-based health education initiatives.
I bring strong skills in outreach, culturally sensitive communication, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to advance health equity and community well-being.
I am currently doing a Master of Science in Environmental Health Sciences degree at the University of Alberta, with a strong focus on public and community health in the Canadian context. My training emphasized health equity, social determinants of health, and inclusive service delivery for marginalized populations, including refugees, low-income families, and newcomers. This education has equipped me with the tools to support community well-being, advocate for health-informed policy, and contribute to frontline service delivery in multicultural urban settings like Edmonton.
