Gorur Keerthy Raghavan Mridangam Artiste
Gorur Keerthy Raghavan is a percussionist and percussion ensemble composer from India, born to a family with a rich inheritance of music and literature. His music lineage embroils his aunt Swara Kokila (late) Smt. Jahnavi Jayaprakash, a world-renowned vocalist who is instrumental in introducing the syllabus “Carnatic Technics in Western Classical Music” in the Amsterdam conservatorium of music, Netherlands.
He started his musical journey at the later age of 18 by learning Mridangam under the tutelage of Shri M.T. Rajakesari, A-Top, All India Radio Artist who is a disciple of “Mridangam Maestro Shri Guru Karaikudi R. Mani”. Guru Karaikudi Mani is recognized by the vast majority of Carnatic connoisseurs and admirers as one of the greatest mridangam players ever. The most complex patterns with powerful strokes, aesthetically symmetric, seamless sequences, and rhythmic embellishment brought fame to this unique style called “Karaikudi Mani Bani”. Keerthy is privileged to learn directly from grandmaster Guru Karikudi Mani in his renowned percussion school “Sruti Laya Kendra” Bangalore & Chennai Chapters.
Keerthy has accompanied in several concerts with eminent artists in prestigious Sabhas like Raja Rajeshwari Cultural Association, Percussive art center, Bangalore Nagaratnamma trust, Shubhash Bhavan, and much more in India. He was in Middle-east and Africa for over fifteen years actively involved in musical events, performed on various stages, and chamber concerts, and received an award from Kuwait Kannada Koota for rendering musical contributions to the community. He continued his percussion service for various auspicious occasions like Purandaradasa, & Thyagaraja Aradhana, Bhagavathi Seva, Annayamacharya Aradana, and many more. At present, he is on the journey of improvising skills in percussion and music to achieve excellence and spread the knowledge and art through teachings.
Keerthy has accompanied in several concerts with eminent artists in prestigious Sabhas like Raja Rajeshwari Cultural Association, Percussive art center, Bangalore Nagaratnamma trust, Shubhash Bhavan, Thyagaraja Aradhana in Thiruvayar, and much more in India. Kannada Koota Kuwait, Thyagaraja Sabha, Kuwait, Guruguha School-Kuwait. In Nairobi, Kenya he is continued his percussion service for various auspicious occasions like Purandaradasa, & Thyagaraja Aradhana, Bhagavathi Seva, Annayamacharya Aradana, and many more.
