Layne Pitman

I am currently completing my first year at the University of Alberta for a Bachelor of Science Specializing in Computing Science. I have a passion for programming and computers and would love to be able to apply that passion in a real-world environment. I have always had a goal of being a full-stack developer, so I have learned many languages including Java, Python, C#, HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript. I would be honoured to have the opportunity to work anywhere that is willing to let me show my expertise and knowledge.

I took the AP Computing Science course and exam on an accelerated schedule, completing it within 2 semesters instead of 3. I received a four on the AP Exam and subsequently received first-year university credits for Computer Science courses. I was lucky to be taught by a former NASA Computer Scientist for my AP course, meaning that the projects and assignments that we worked on were highly relevant and real problems that NASA Scientists have faced.

I am currently in my first year of a Computing Science degree, which includes a wide range of Computing Science, Calculus, Linear Algebra, Statistics, and Economics courses. I had a GPA of 3.9 in my first semester. I am looking to apply all of this new knowledge in any way that I can.
