Hello there, my name is Mathew Bravo and I am a 3rd year Honours Bachelor of Technology – Software Development student at Seneca College. I first got interested in software development when I picked up the book "C++ for Dummies" in the early 2000s. Although I pursued business and began a business degree after some successful entrepreneurial endeavors in high school and beyond, my passion for software development never waned.
Now, I am making a comeback to software development to pursue my passion for building performant backend systems and eventually carve out a career in Cloud computing or AI/Machine Learning. My ultimate goal is to contribute to the creation of a future of computing that is cost-effective, performant, and environmentally conscious.
I am proficient in JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Go, and Rust, and I have participated in projects involving most of the widely adopted programming languages. Currently, I am researching database management systems and AI/Machine Learning, and I have also spent considerable time diving into the different aspects of backend architecture, from REST APIs to Protocol Buffers, UDP/TCP to HTTP 1.1-3, and more.
As a soon-to-be graduate, I am looking for a place to take my first steps into the industry and would love to learn more about any aspect of software development. I am always eager to expand my knowledge and skills and would welcome any opportunity to do so.
My professional experience spans over a decade of customer service in sales-based and basic customer service roles, as well as key-holder positions in teams ranging from less than 10 to more than 100 on location. In high school, I owned and operated a recycling company that collected scrap metal and recyclables from the local area, processed them, and sold them to processing facilities. This venture employed two other students and continues to pay for my degree and living situation today. I also contributed ideation and planning to an expansion project for my family's personal business, which resulted in over $200,000 in revenue.
