I have had significant experience in science communication throughout my academic career. I have been a volunteer with the Let's Talk Science organization for 10 years and have been awarded volunteer of the year and nominated for multiple national awards. More recently I was the special events and partnerships coordinator for the Calgary branch of Let's Talk Science where I developed STEM activities and organized national events.
I also developed and lead an international science outreach program in partnership with the Bolivia Digna Non- profit organization where I taught hands on science in rural and impoverished communities in Bolivia. I have further developed science communication skills by becoming a University Teaching and Learning in STEM Graduate Scholar program offered through the University of Calgary where evidence based techniques were developed and used to improve science lessons for university students.
I am currently defending my master's of science degree in plant biochemistry at the University of Calgary. I earned my honours bachelor's of science degree at the University of Manitoba studying cellular, developmental, and molecular biology with a second major in psychology. I have earned minors in both human nutrition and business. Also during my undergraduate education I studied ecology and habitat management, and conducted ecology research.
