Poorvi Karani

I am a passionate elementary teacher teaching a mixed class Grade 1,2 & 3 in a private school in Ontario- Canada. i believe in the value to promote a varied learning environment to encourage students to be inquisitive and critical learners in order to unlock their academic and personal potential in being a global citizen. Having lived all in many parts of the world, I bring with me an international perspective and growth mindset.

I pride myself on building strong relationships with students and colleagues that are based on trust, mutual respect and that form the foundation for a collaborative classroom, or school-based family. I believe that a classroom learning environment should promote fun, growth-focused learning and provide a safe, caring space for children to learn and make mistakes.

My passion for teaching stems from my personal drive to help others learn. To facilitate this, I work hard to ensure that my lessons are motivating and engaging for students (and teachers!), to make sure we develop a solid foundation of conceptual understanding. Knowing the importance of dispositions and “soft-skills”, I hope to join a school community that encourages students to seize opportunities to learn a new “language” not only academically but socially, cognitively and emotionally as well.

I have been teaching since the past 10+ years. I started with teaching grade 1 & 2 in Doha (Qatar)- Middle East and then moved to Canada (Ontario). In Ontario, I taught a kindergarten class in Absorbent Minds for 2 years and then moved to Songbirds Montessori School teaching kindergarten for 4 years. Currently I am teaching elementary - grades 1,2 & 3 mixed class teaching the Canadian common core alligned curriculum along with the Montessori way.
