Richard Maxton is an Australian-born, Vancouver-based cinematographer and director.
At university he began shooting short mockumentaries about his friends and found his true passion in life…. Making films, not making fun of his mates.
Since then, he has travelled the world shooting and directing branded content, documentary, commercial, live event and music projects.
He was a journalist before turning exclusively to film, studying Documentary and Cinematography at AFTRS (Australian Film, Television and Radio School). Now he channels that inquisitive nature into his work, combining insight with beautiful imagery.
He loves hearing about people’s passions, finding out what stirs them, and translating it onto the screen.
Richard is highly resourceful, adaptable and has a sharp instinct for capturing a scene. Whether working as a one-man-band or with large crews, he is skilled at setting up shoots in the most challenging conditions and delivering reliably beautiful results.
He is happiest in the wild and takes strange enjoyment from lugging heavy things for long distances across vast landscapes.
