Research Project - Privacy-Utility Trade-off in ML - UQAC - Chicoutimi (QC)

• Designed and implemented a complete data anonymization pipeline (Mondrian algorithm) applied to the Adult Census Income dataset (48,842 individuals)
• Trained and compared three ML pipelines (Baseline, k-Anonymity k=5, Differential Privacy ε=1.0) on Random Forest - accuracy maintained at 85.1% after anonymization (-0.57%)
• Implemented a Membership Inference Attack (MIA) via shadow models to empirically measure the robustness of each protection against an adversary
• Produced comparative analyses (attack accuracy, privacy leakage, utility loss) and visualizations of the Utility ↔ Privacy trade-off
