- Conducting site safety induction and training workplace procedures
- Carrying out site walk through and inspections for hazard identification
- Conducting toolbox meetings for the workers prior to commencement of activities
- Carrying out & verifying power tools, electrical equipment inspection and maintaining up to dated checklists
- Enforcing and ensuring that appropriate PPE is at all times used in accordance with the tasks undertaken
- Ensuring effective monitoring of workers for safe work practices and conditions
- Ensuring a proper systematic permit to work is in effect for all the site activities
- Carryiny out in house training for the workers on site, such as the proper use of fall body harness, and power tools
- Coordination of both high risk and low risk activities on site for a safe working environment
- Ensuring thorough checks for competence certifications of both the equipment and the workers (operatives) prior to starting of works
- Ensuring and maintaining proper posting of safety signages on site and maintaining proper access on site
- Ensuring compliance with local laws and company HSE policies
- Following standards such as OSHA / NEBOSH guidelines
- Maintaining safety documentation and records
- Ensuring safety awareness among site staff
- Reporting accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions
- Investigate incidents and identify root causes to prepare detailed incident reports with corrective actions
- Ensuring fire safety and emergency response plans are in place, and conducting emergency drills (fire, evacuation, spill response)
- Maintaining first aid and emergency equipment readiness
- Preparing, planning and implementing safe waste disposal strategies
- Ensuring that all waste disposal activities in my jurisdiction comply with the environmental laws and regulations
- Enforcing and ensuring that the employees use the provided personal protective gear to avoid hygiene waste hazards
- Managing budgets in the process of collection, sorting, recycling and disposal
- Ensuring provision and selection of hygiene facilities on collection vehicles basing on the risk
- Choosing suitable and qualified contractors who meet up with the company's contractor's policy for waste transportation
- Watching out for the safety of all workers and works to protect them from entering hazardous situations, such as enclosed drainage systems with toxic gases
- Ensure that the workers are healthy fit for work at all times and keep medical records
- Supervise the transportation of waste to ensure that it takes place efficiently without contaminating land, air or water sources
- Assist with the development, promotion and implementation of new waste disposal schemes
- Carrying out risk assessments and job safety analysis
- Conducting coshh assessments, inventories and environmental reporting writing
