Clinical Embryology Lab Placement Student TRIO Fertility, Toronto April 2024 – July 2024 

• Conducted weekly quality control (temperature of benchtop and time-lapse incubators, CO2 levels using a fyrite, calibrated pH with standards, etc.)
• Prepared media for different procedures (10% HTF with LifeGlobal Protein Supplement, m-HTF with heparin, etc.)
• Shadowed clinical embryologists on procedures such as embryo transfer, assisted hatching, blastocyst biopsy/PGT, and oocyte denuding
• Under supervision, practiced oocyte retrieval, assessment of fertilization and embryo/blastocyst development, oocyte and embryo/blastocyst vitrification and warming, and insemination using ICSI
• Processed sperm samples for IUI, IVF, and ICSI using density gradient and swim-up and gained further experience in freezing and thawing sperm
• Comfortably handled specimens in cryotanks, and familiarized with various time-lapse incubators including the MIRI and EmbryoScope
