Yazdan Rahman

I am currently pursuing a B. Eng. in Computer Engineering at McMaster University, where my main interests lie within both hardware and software development. My goal is to apply my degree knowledge in the engineering industry.

During my first year, I had the opportunity to take on a 4-month Software Developer role at Adventec Manufacturing Company. This placement allowed me to utilize my skills obtained during my studies and develop software to help with quality control. I played a key role in the development of this software, which was utilized by over 100 molding machine operators.

In terms of my degree, I am currently studying Signal Processing, Operating Systems, and Control Systems Design. The Computer Engineering program at McMaster has a focus on project-oriented development and includes a variety of Software, Electrical, and Hardware courses. Some of my favorite projects include Acno, an Android Mobile App that detects acne, a Real-time Software Defined Radio for Mono/Stereo FM, and a 320x240 Image Decompressor using System Verilog (Hardware Design Language).

• Critically contributed to regulating regression runs used by the whole Graphics Memory Team (50+ Individuals) by Debugging issues within Linux (Bash) and submitting fixes using Perforce to ensure proper regression run data is acquired.
• Tackled high resource usage of regressions through efficient time allocation resulting in significantly reduced regression issues and 30-50% faster regression runs.
• Addressed regression space issues by designing a Python Script that monitors disk space usage using Multithreading and notifies the team, resulting in reduced regression run issues and preserved storage space for future projects.
• Maintained scripts in Perl and SQL which upload regression run data to proactively notify development teams of low Code Coverage, thereby automating and verifying the design process.
• Utilized Confluence to educate design teams regarding regressions, debug processes, as well as script usability to maintain regression tasks long-term.
