Dear Hiring Committee,
I am writing to express my interest in the Senior Leadership Position position within Gibbs and Cox.
Having spent nearly ten years with Seaspan Shipyards in Vancouver, most recently as Platform Integration Lead – Structural Engineering for the Canadian Coast Guard Polar Icebreaker Program, I bring extensive experience leading complex shipbuilding programs, multidisciplinary international teams, and stakeholder coordination across Canada, Europe, and the UK.
My background combines senior technical leadership with practical shipyard operations experience in newbuild, repair, offshore, and conversion projects, including the Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers and major Canadian Coast Guard programs.
After returning temporarily to Spain for family reasons, I am now considering a return to North America and believe my previous experience within Seaspan, combined with my international network and leadership background, would allow me to contribute immediately to the continued growth and success of Victoria Shipyards.
I would welcome the opportunity to discuss how my experience aligns with your vision for the role.
Sincerely,
Ángel Luis Aguiar, MEng, CEng, PEng, MRINA
Senior Naval Architect with 28 years of experience in the completion of all assigned projects, from concept preparations,
through Basic/Functional and Production engineering, finalizing the construction of the vessels.
As Senior Naval Architect, I am responsible for completing Structural Engineering Assignments on New Construction at
Vancouver Shipyards. I am involved in all New Construction Design project phases, including requirements decomposition,
design preparations, supporting analysis, material selection and specification, engineering execution, and engineering close-out activities.
Immediately before joining Seaspan, I was Manager of Naval Architecture Structures at Rosyth Shipyard (Scotland) working there for 4 years, during the construction of the QEC Aircraft Carriers.
