Pharmacy Assistant - Sparkbrook Pharmacy - Birmingham, West Midlands
(2025-10 - 2025-11)
I completed work experience in a pharmacy assisting with essential tasks such as dispensing prescriptions, preparing blister packs, and organising medication. This allowed me to observe how medicines are used to treat different conditions and learned the importance of accuracy and patient safety when handling prescriptions. As well as this, I also developed communication skills when interacting with other staff members or even customers whether it was working at the tills or even just to discuss their medications.
It has built on my quality of good teamwork and professionalism in a working healthcare environment preparing me for future endeavours.
Primary School Volunteer - REDHILL PRIMARY SCHOOL - Birmingham, West Midlands
(2023-07 - 2023-07)
During my work experience in a primary school, I developed many skills that I believe are relevant to working in dental nursing. I worked closely with children of different ages but more so the younger years, my respective year group was reception and year one. Dealing with children of such young ages allowed me to reach an understanding of how vulnerable people need care and support more so than others.
I learnt the importance of patience, empathy, and building trust especially when supporting children who were anxious or even found it difficult to voice their opinions in a regulative manner. I gained experience as working apart of a team by assisting teachers and other staff members a skill crucial for working in a clinical environment. This placement helped me become more responsible, organised and attentive to detail to always ensure the children's wellbeing and safety. overall, my time here only further strengthened my qualities and skills adding a layer of professionalism to myself which is important when being in a healthcare setting.
