An Electric Power System Energy Planning Engineer, utiliz-ing 5 years of experience in the field of energy planning for the Jordanian Power System (short, medium & long term) in the NATIONAL CONTROL CENTER (NCC) and the Planning & Bulk Supply Division at the National Electric Power Company (NEPCO)

EXPERIENCE (2021- 2025)

• I gained All my experience in National Electric Power Co. (NEPCO) during which I was responsible for Performing the following:

• ❖ Short-Term Planning

  • Short-term Load forecast. (Up to 10 days)
  • Unit commitment & Economic Dispatch.
  • Operating schedule for system operators includ-ing load scheduling and Dispatch.
  • Power system cost calculation & reporting.
  • Power plants maintenance schedule.

  ❖ Medium-Term Planning

  • Medium-term Energy & Peak forecast with load profiles.
  • Power system monthly operation schedule.
  • Feasibility studies: (Economic impact of the poten-tial new candidates (Power Plants, interconnec-tions, large consumers, … etc.) with all future sce-narios and sensitives in mind.
  • Company’s Annual budget and balance sheets.
  • Annual Fuel Quantities & Imported Energy studies: (Estimation of Fuel quantities and assessment for back-up fuel storages and Interconnection avail-ability).
  • Legal cases: (defending the company in the inter-national courts by technical studies)

  ❖ Long-Term Planning (Generation Expansion Plan)

  • Exploring the potential generation candidates.
  • Determination of the most critical and high im-portance scenarios to be implemented in the study.
  • Modelling the whole Generation Expansion study on Plexos. [including all Power plants types (Ther-mal, wind, PV, Batteries, Pumped Hydro storage)].
  • Results extraction, analysis & presentation.

  • ❖ Membership in MED-TSO

  I am a proud member of MED-TSO (Mediterranean Transmission System Operators). I am assisting as a power system energy planning Engineer. I am partic-ularly participating in conducting the international Adequacy studies (Modelling, Simulations & Results analysis and presentation) where we study the power systems of Mediterranean countries (Morocco, Alge-ria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt and Jordan) and the intercon-nections between these countries and the potential future expansions.

  We use R, Python, TRAPUNTA & AN-TARES simulator as the main tools for these studies.
