Motivated to further myself as an apprentice but also to develop my knowledge and skills as a civil engineer. I am wanting to come out of my time as a fully qualified Civil Engineer as well as an Incorporated Civil Engineer with ICE. I have hands-on experience working in infrastructure projects, as well as on-site working.

One of my strengths I feel I have gained and advanced during my time is communication. This is because when I was working with the Structures Inspectors we communicated every time we were completing an inspection, whether this was on-track or roadside.

Part-Time Worker - Renwick Flooring - Newcastle Upon Tyne

• Involved in putting vinyl flooring down in hospitals, as well as pouring screed to level the initial floor to allow a flat surface
• Learnt the importance of teamwork and communication as the jobs were never one person tasks

Apprentice Civil Engineer - Nexus Rail - Newcastle Upon Tyne

(2023-09 - 2026-04)

• Completed structural inspections on a variety of different assets (structures/bridges) under the supervision and guidance of the Structures Inspectors
• Completed Technical Audits on different topics, including a Technical Audit on Station Platform Risers following an engineering walkout around the Nexus Network
• Completed drone flights around the system, including a LiDAR survey of track in the Pelaw area, creating pointcloud 3D models of the track and surrounding areas (e.g. cuttings/embankments) for the Engineering Drawing team to assist with slope design for new steps and walkway to a signal box
• Used the Atkins Table for defect severity and extent grading while working with the Structures Inspectors
• Specified corrective maintenance repairs of defects found during structural inspections, raising Work Orders for brickwork stitching repairs to step fractures, longitudinal cracks, and repointing to areas of mortar loss
• Assisted with the successful delivery of Key Performance Indicator for the structural inspection annual plan
