Ive always been a very active individual, I’ve participated in a variety of sports; with football being my favourite. However, when i was 14 i ruptured my hamstring which lead to me having physiotherapy. I was amazed by the positive effects this had on me, this showed me how physiotherapy was vital for the re-establishment of my quality of life; this lead me to being passionate about studying physiotherapy.
With this in mind, i managed to get work experience with a physio at a Bupa clinic in both London and Nottingham. I spent the two weeks shadowing a physio and I loved every second of my time there. I observed the appointments of a variety of patients, from treating sprained ankles, ruptured hamstrings, joint manipulations, and biomechanical assessments.
Im fully aware this job entails me being a physiotherapy assistant, and i believe this role would give me the perfect practice and experience i could take with me when i become a physiotherapist one day. My plan is to work for a couple years before starting my msc Physiotherapy course. And if allowed, id like to do this part time alongside working as a physiotherapist assistant.
This job would genuinely be a dream come true moment for me.Alongside this, i was also passionate about resistance training and the physiology behind it, both passions led to me enrolling on the Sport and Exercise Science course at the University of Suffolk. I graduated with a 2.1 and I enjoyed all of my modules, with Anatomy and physiology being my favourite.
I loved learning the science behind an array of physiological adaptations and how our anatomy allows us function. The biomechanics modules were also very interesting, in-which i learnt how to perform a biomechanical assessment, a vital practise for a physio. In my 3rd year I was due to get some work experience with a self employed physio, but covid stopped any chance of that happening.
However, in the summer i managed to get voluntary work with a semi professional football team as a physio but that was cut short due to covid as i had vulnerable people in my household. I loved working in both a clinical setting with Bupa and a sporting environment, furthering my desire to work as a physiotherapist regardless of the environment i was in. I have had a variety of jobs working with customers from all different backgrounds, which has had a massive effect on my communication skills.
Im currently working in a gym as a front of house assistant in which im constantly coming into contact with the general public. My role includes the Monitoring of all activities within the gym, many admin responsibilities, frequent pool tests and enforcing a positive greeting upon entrance as-well as many other duties.
I believe my relentless passion to be a physiotherapist sets me apart from most candidates, and i really believe I have the experience and work ethic required to make the most of this opportunity. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
