I am a band six Midwife working in a very busy maternity unit based in London. I am up-to-date with my training such as prompt newborn life support, basic life support, fire training as well as venepuncture and cannulation. I am a Midwife who works in all sectors of midway free inpatient as well as outpatient.
I have worked in two NHS trusts both very busy maternity units and I have learned to adapt to new environments very quickly. My strongest skills are high dependency high risk labour care as well as maternity outpatients Educating patients and their families to aid the best outcomes for women and their families.

During my time at this trust I have rotated around the various aspects of maternity; labour ward, providing high risk intrapartum care to clients and families (such as those with diabetes, who required additional care), interpreting CTG's, care in theatre and post theatre (emergency caesarean or instrumental deliveries), I have also been actively involved in emergencies such as breech and postpartum haemorrhage's which I have worked alongside my team effectively to produce positive outcomes. I have also been involved in the bereavement care of clients, caring emotionally and physically for themselves and their families during this time. Managing analgesia is imperative in all aspects of maternity, ensuring the client is as comfortable as possible, managing drug charts and administering medications.
In the midwife led birth centre I have been able to provide low risk care on a midwife-led unit, participating in many water-births, being skilled in intermittent auscultation and actively encouraging women to be mobile to assist labour. This role of work was more flexible which meant that I had similar roles and responsibilities to previous healthcare roles, mostly the role was to fill out staffing shortages amongst the trust based within England.
This included: Delivering health promotion sessions, raising awareness about women's health issues. Handling emergency situations, ensuring immediate response to high-risk conditions. This role consisted on me working in a range of areas such as postnatal & antenatal ward as well as birth centre and outpatients care. Outpatients care consisted on providing family planning advice leading to informed reproductive choices to ensure better outcomes for women and their families. Similarly, to one of my previous roles of work this role was fully flexible and allowed me to balance extra shifts around my life filling staff in shortages in areas where they were shortages. I worked in mostly outpatient as as well as impatient care such as birth centre which is Midwife lead and no obstetricians delivering babies recovering mothers and discharging them and ensuring that they had the appropriate care post delivery. I also coordinated on the birth Centre a multitude of times taking the lead delegating tasks which gave me an insight on management and good resilience within the workplace.
The majority of the time this role revolved around looking after women with complex care and needs as this is a very strong passion of mind to ensure the best outcomes for women and their families working in a multidisciplinary team formulating plans specifically to fit their individual needs and ensure that they were met in a timely manner as well as supporting more junior staff members requiring assistance, mentoring students and occasionally working in maternity triage
