Highways Operative - Oldham Council

I currently work across the highways network which requires me to be flexible in my current post. My daily work requires me to be punctual and to prioritise work so where possible the task is completed the same day.
- Work on the gully wagon maintaining and cleaning the highways top water system
- Carry out investigations on the system to clear out any blockages using high pressure water jetting
- Conduct CCTV surveys to ensure blockages are clear and pipework is intact
- Log all gullies on Karbontech system installed on tablet during routine cleans
- Log any problems identified on Karbontech system
- Have experience on excavations on drainage systems and repairing and renewing damaged pipework
- Work at all times within the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974
- Work within the Street Works Code required for work on the highways
- Handle unexpected situations and emergencies while dealing with the public daily
- Complete regular mandatory training courses to keep knowledge up to date
- Attend courses required to keep abreast of new procedures
- Complete daily checks on vehicles and equipment at the beginning and end of each shift
- Log and hand in daily equipment checks to ensure correct maintenance and procedures
- Complete daily work tickets and hand in to management team
- Discuss ongoing work with management to ensure work tickets are completed
- Programme ongoing work required and order materials needed
- Liaise with other departments and colleagues working different tasks
- Liaison with local councillors in the community to discuss planned work
- Contact other departments if their services are needed to support work
- Deliver excellent customer services when dealing with the public daily
- Participate in monthly highways call meaning on call outside normal hours
- Respond to situations from flooding to road collision accidents
- Liaise with local police, control room, call out manager and other colleagues
- Work under pressure and as part of a team during call outs
- Available during winter months on standby for winter maintenance call
- Work within the community gritting roads and loading gritters
- Keep vital Trans-Pennine routes open and clear
- Maintain adequate rest between shifts to meet safety standards
- Take part in highway callout on monthly basis throughout the year
Warehouse Operative - Safe Cellars

- Warehouse operation
- Store, pick and maintain goods stored within property
- Safe handling of goods stored due to nature and value
- Clear labelling and organisation of storage
- Reorganise storage when required to make room for more stock or maximise space
- Load and unload vehicles to a timescale
- Liaise with management on floor and in office
- Time management to ensure goods were ready for pick up
