Construction Worker at GVG construction ltd / Ringway (2025-06 – Present)
At GVG my main role was fixing and reinstating potholes and defects on roads and pathways. This meant cutting out marked areas and digging out the defect areas and then resurfacing the area, so it was correct and safe. Working on roads and pathways meant I had to always be safe aware of my surroundings and work well as a team to get the job completed safely, quickly and to a high standard.
In addition to reinstating potholes and defects, I also did white works - this was anything from relaying broken slabs curbs and laying concrete. As I was working on roads and paths this meant I always had to be safe and aware not only for myself and my teammates but also for members of the public either road users or public on foot paths. I always had to make sure I set out a safe working site, and the work was completed to a safe correct working standard.

At Cappagh I had several roles, this would be from tarmac to white work and backfill. Each day was different and involved bringing a mixture of skills to complete my daily workload to a high standard and in a timely manner. I had to be able to work as a team, be able to work under pressure and be able to communicate well with other people and other companies undertaking work alongside ourselves to make sure all work was carried out safely and to the correct standard.

As a general builder and landscaper, I undertook many tasks such as extensions, new builds and refurbishments. In addition to the general building tasks, I performed general landscaping tasks which would involve gardening, fencing, driveways and patios. With this job it was always key to be polite punctual and have customer satisfaction as a main priority.
I had to make sure I was able to plan for jobs and view potential jobs for customers and give them quotes which meant I had to be organised, focused and trustworthy to ensure that the customer was always happy and satisfied with the finished product.
Resolution Officer at Marston holdings (2019-12 – 2020-08)
Working as a resolution officer, my duties were to help resolve issues and problems for people that were in debt. My primary objectives were to collect payments, or to help set up payment plans to help them get out of the situation they were in. I had to plan my routes each day to ensure efficient usage of my time to achieve the visits that were required.
Having to deal with many different types of people in different situations, it was key to be empathetic and understanding whilst balancing the requirement to achieve resolution.
Detainee Custody Officer Overseas Escort at Detainee custody officer (2019-09 – 2019-12)
My primary role was to take foreign nationals back to their own country on order by the Home Office. I had to be able to adapt to many different situations and a wide range of different people. On the order of the home office, I would collect detainees from either prison, or immigration centres, and fly with them back to their own country.
The role required me to work with, and be involved with, different agencies and meet all kinds of people. I had to think on my feet as well as work well as a member of the team to achieve our goals. Dealing with people who had all kinds of issues and problems required me to be good at listening and talking to de-escalate situations whilst also be understanding and caring.
Prison Officer at HMPPS Prison Service High Down (2017-03 – 2019-02)
My job as a prison officer was a challenging role. This job varies daily and I had to deal with a wide variety of situations varying from helping prisoners with daily problems to stopping them from self-harming or fighting. Being part of a team, I had to be relied upon and had to be trustworthy, honest and personable.
General Manager at Sukrin LTD (2016-07 – 2017-02)
As a General Manager, I oversaw day to day running of the company that was processing deliveries and orders. I also dealt with customer complaints, answering emails and uploading delivery slips & photographs onto an online system as proof of delivery. Whilst in this role I also achieved obtaining my forklift license.
Detainee Custody Officer at G4S Brook House Immigration Centre (2011-05 – 2016-07)
My job as a detainee custody officer varied daily from people in distress to helping them with day-to-day issues (such as helping them with their case or stopping them from self-harming or fighting), which required patience and understanding and a strong ability empathise. The role required me to be vigilant and on alert for anything that could happen. This job was challenging mentally and sometimes physically, but at the same time rewarding.
The wide variety of different situations I was required to deal with meant my skills had to be varied and widespread.
Retained Firefighter at East Grinstead (2006-03 – 2014-02)
As a firefighter I had to be open minded and work very well as part of a team. I had 2 years of intense training in all different aspects of the job from learning how to use cutting gear to breathing apparatus so I could deal with any situation I might be put in. Other requisites were to be honest, trustworthy and able to adapt quickly in any situation. In this job, I wanted to give something back into the community and help people.
Area Sales Manager at office team (2008-03 – 2011-05)
My job as an area sales manager was of two parts, firstly on securing new business by cold calling, walking the streets and gathering information and encouraging companies switch their existing supplier to us. The second part of my role was to look after and manage my existing customers which required me to look after their accounts and deal with orders - this was always hard as had to keep them happy but also maintain margins. The role meant I was constantly meeting and talking to new people meaning, I had to be confident and think on my feet.
It was a hard job selling office supplies because the market is very competitive meaning I had to be persistent and always staying positive - my moto was always "try and try again and be positive and persistent".
