About
Numerically minded with a range of accounting and finance experience. I'm looking for the right person to see and appreciate what I can offer. Fantastic problem solver, innovative by nature, academically gifted, charming and personable all round asset.
Experienced in both single handedly managing a finance function and supervising, developing and managing junior staff. Part ACA qualified but happy to (and quite interested in) switching to CIMA or another management accounts qualification. I've decided to continue training for accounts qualifications rather than completing the degree I have spent a year studying due to not having learned any new knowledge on the course!
Currently open to a new challenge and available immediately
Experience
Bookkeeper - Brudenell Social Club - Leeds
(2022-04 - 2024-09)
I'm working in this role part time doing accounts and submissions for a group of companies. I've had the pleasure of developing my own organisational systems and implementing more efficient processes to keep everything fully logged and running smoothly. I am very happy in my role but chose part time hours so that I can expand on my freelancing work alongside it.
- All aspects of purchase ledger and sage maintenance
- VAT reconciliations
- Bank reconciliations
- Regular meetings with suppliers and managers of our various sites
- Working with business owners to troubleshoot and improve process group-wide
- Reporting errors, inaccuracies and service issues to relevant management
Management Accounts Assistant - Metals4U ltd - Leeds
(2021-04 - 2022-04)
This role built on my experience of working within a finance department in industry rather than in an accounts practice. I feel that my short time here has hugely expanded my skillset including me leading a team, gaining HR experience and mentoring new through balance sheet reconciliations and month end processes. After such exposure and practice I would certainly consider my skills more of an assistant accountant than an accounts assistant and am very grateful for the development.
I am now looking to do reduced hours (working 4 days a week) hence the reason I am looking elsewhere. My reason for leaving can be discussed at interview.
- Managing the maintenance of the purchase ledger
- Overseeing reconciliations of bank and credit cards
- Credit control
- Company wide assistance with any/all excel problems
- Accounting for VAT
- Overseeing month end processes and balance sheet reconciliations
- Negotiating/setting payment terms with suppliers
- Preparing the monthly payment run
- Petty cash
- Fixed asset register and depreciation
- Issuing credit notes/accounting for all refunds
Accounts Assistant - J27 Accountants - Leeds
(2019-03 - 2021-04)
Working in this role in an accounts practice has been invaluable for my experience and understanding of year end accounts preparation. Working with a variety of clients on many different types of software has been key in giving me a broader and more complete set of accounting skills. This started as a temp position and just continued on from there.
- Data entry and analysis of financial information
- Extensive use of Receipt Bank, Quickfile and Accountancy Manager systems
- Bank reconciliations
- Sorting transactions into relevant ledger codes

- Reconciling the company accounts internally
- Taking payments
- Research and implementation of more efficient processes and software

In this role I completed 4 of the 6 courses that make up the CFAB qualification (which is the first stage of the full ACA qualification).
