Anna Shipton

I am an outgoing, energetic team player who particularly enjoys physically active, customer facing roles. I am currently seeking a part-time server position that I can fit around my studies as I will be returning to university in September to study Speech and Language Therapy. I will also be available to pick up additional hours if needed during the university holidays during this period.

I have one year's experience working full time as a Front House Team Member at Wagamama. This involved welcoming customers, taking, and delivering orders accurately, making recommendations, independently working the bar, maintaining cleanliness, and organising stock. I also successfully communicated with other team members to anticipate problems ahead of time.

This allowed us to successfully prioritise and divide tasks to ensure health and safety requirements were met without compromising on excellent customer service, for instance when preparing for a close.

I further pride myself on my organisation and people skills. During my time working as a School Administrator, I successfully handled room bookings and became accustomed to conversing with parents on the telephone, ensuring they felt at ease and that their concerns were taken seriously. My friendly nature and ability to put people at ease have aided me in my current role working as a Learning Support assistant for children with special educational needs.

I believe these skills are crucial within hospitality, for instance when organising restaurant bookings, creating a welcoming atmosphere, and handling complaints.

Responsibilities

• Planning, preparing, and delivering specified learning activities to individuals, small groups and classes;
• Developing independence in SEN students using metacognitive strategies; and
• Providing pastoral care to pupils, supporting their emotional wellbeing and reporting problems to the teacher as appropriate. 

Office Angels, Newcastle Upon Tyne | Temporary School Administrator at Longbenton Highschool (January 2024 – April 2024)

Responsibilities

• Handling phone calls, emails and inquiries from staff, students and parents;
• Managing school filing system; 
• Assisting with the organisation of school events, meetings, and schedules; and
• Collaborating with teachers and staff to ensure the smooth operation of daily administrative tasks.

Liceo Scientifico Marie Curie, Pinerolo, Italy | British Council English Language Assistant (October 2020- June 2021)

Responsibilities

• Preparing engaging lessons in English Language and culture, ensuring they are in line with the specified curriculum, and delivering to classes of up to 30 students, between the ages of 15 and 19;
• Adapting such lessons into a format that can be delivered online – given the constraints imposed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. 
• Marking assignments and providing constructive feedback punctually; and 
• Collaborating with various school departments to inform language provision and facilitate the teaching of science subjects in English.

University of Leeds | First class (Hons) BA Italian and Philosophy with a distinction in spoken Italian (September 2018- July 2022)

English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA-PASS B) (September 2021)

CELTA is the most widely recognised qualification for teaching English as a foreign language in the world.

It requires

• 6 hours of assessed teaching practice per candidate, teaching adults from all over the world;
• 6 hours of observation of lessons taught by ELT professionals; and 
• The submission of 4 written assignments requiring analysis and response to adult learners' needs, analysis of language, teaching language skills, and reflecting on language teaching.
