Arthur O'Hara

I am a music therapy student at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. I'm currently in my second year and will finish my studies at the end of June 2024.

Over the two years of my training I will have completed three placement and gain experience providing individual and group music therapy in the following settings:

• NHS adult low-secure forensic unit (Learning disability speciality)
• NHS mental health, adult psychiatry (acute inpatient, community mental health centre)
• Mainstream primary school

My masters dissertation research looked at music therapists perceptions on musical authenticity and cultural appropriation in music therapy practice.

In addition to my music therapy training I work as a jazz/improvising musician, regularly performing in venues around the UK. I provide instrumental lessons in a secondary school in north west London and I have worked as a music workshop leader and co-ordinator, providing workshops to groups of children and young people.
