Senior Midwife with over 41 years in the NHS spanning across several roles; including General Nursing and Midwifery. Working as a Band 7 Senior Midwife for the past 21 years with a wealth of knowledge and experience in all aspects of Maternity care and safeguarding. Strong communicator who is comfortable working within, and leading, a multidisciplinary team.

Responsible for the day to day running of Central Labour Suite.

Ensuring patient and staff safety at all times.
Managing the triage assessment area.
Manage the workload on Labour Ward. This includes staff allocation and remaining flexible as needs arise and reallocating resources as required.
Care of high dependency mothers and supervision of junior caregivers.
Initiate neonatal resuscitation when required.
Coordinate emergency response relating to obstetric clients.
Facilitate the organization of emergency theatre cases and coordination of staff.
Liaising with multidisciplinary teams (GPs, Mental Health teams, A&E staff, Social Workers, Safeguarding, Bereavement Midwife, Health Visitors, Pharmacists etc.).
Teaching and supporting Student Midwives, Junior Midwives and Junior Medical Staff.
Maintain high standard of record keeping and data maintenance (both written and digital). Including chronological filing of results into medical records.
Obtaining medical results and actioning appropriate care plan, in conjunction with medical staff, for each individual client based on their needs.
Reporting maintenance/equipment issues and ensuring they are replaced or repaired.
