Converting Operator at WEPA (2025-05 – Present)
Responsible for the operation of manufacturing/production lines of hygiene paper products, ensuring that machines and lines are kept operational with as little downtime as possible by addressing stoppages in a timely manner and ensuring any input materials/consumables are kept stocked. The role is carried out on a 4-on (2 days 2 nights) 4-off, shift basis and required shift start-up checks and handovers between shifts at the start and end to ensure consistent communication of any previous or current issues on the lines. The role also included manual handling of materials and strict adherence to PPE and health & safety requirements, as well as the use of hand tools for minor maintenance tasks and good housekeeping of the entire line.
Manufacturing Operative at Prysmian (2024-05 – 2025-05)
Trained as a machine operator on manufacturing/packing equipment producing boxes of reels of cable, keeping the machine stocked with input material and resolving alarms/stoppages in a timely manner to maintain constant production and minimise downtime. The role also involves manual handling of materials, adherence to health & safety and PPE requirements, and the use of various tools in performing minor maintenance tasks to the machine to resolve any issues that may arise. The role also involves pre-shift start-up checks of the machine before running, handovers from/to previous/next operators on shift, and good housekeeping of the machine and production area.
Validation Technician at BioMonde (2023-11 – 2024-05)
Responsible for the qualification of equipment and processes on-site in line with GMP requirements, and communicating progress and results with key stakeholders.
Also responsible for facilities management of site: liasing with contractors for building & maintenance works, writing & authorising permits to work, carrying out regular fire alarm and emergency lighting testing, reviewing site CCTV and intruder alarm systems, and general maintenance & housekeeping of site.
Also responsible for site health & safety: ensuring that procedures are adhered to, permits to work as above are authorised and covered by a RAMS, conducting risk assessments for new or existing equipment and processes.
Compliance Technician at PCI Pharma Services (2015-09 – 2023-11)
Responsible for the periodic qualification of all temperature-controlled storage equipment and rooms on-site, including the drafting and execution of validation protocols, in line with a monthly PPM schedule. Also responsible for overseeing and scheduling planned preventative maintenance of above equipment; liaising with refrigeration engineers to ensure periodic 6-month maintenance is carried out, as well as any reactive repairs/maintenance as and when the need arises, and communicating causes and solutions across different departments and managerial levels to minimize disruption and down-time in implementing these solutions. The above qualification and maintenance work is scheduled via a PPM software which lists in detail all assets on-site and all upcoming works which I can use to arrange and track work for the coming month.
Completion and sign-off of these works calculates a new due date for the asset which in turn allows for visibility of future works to be scheduled throughout the year. Each qualification work is completed via a paper-based protocol that must be pre- and post-approved; in addition to completing them I also have experience in scanning and filing the hard copies, as well as uploading the electronic copy to the document management software. When necessary, I also use this same software to raise and complete any documentation changes as and when necessary.
For 3 years I was also directly responsible for facilities management on-site, carrying out repairs and maintenance on-site, and arranging and supervising contractors on-site for larger or more specialised works. Smaller repair/replacement jobs could be raised by any staff member on site via a desktop-based ticket system where the job is recorded in a spreadsheet for tracking, updating and, closure. This part of my role was split into a second dedicated facilities role due to site expansion (with my role continuing to focus on validation and maintenance of temperature-controlled equipment) however I still assist with/cover for facilities maintenance activities on a regular basis when necessary, including tasks such as general DIY building and grounds work, housekeeping, fire alarm, emergency lighting and backup generator testing, and liasing with contractors for larger works.
Responsibility also included being a member of the site on-call team, providing 1 week of out-of-hours service per month, answering/reacting to calls relating to alarm issues, such as temperature monitoring issues for the equipment above or building/fire alarms, and attending site out-of-hours where necessary under lone worker conditions. In addition I am also a trained fire marshal and first aider, have experience filling out permits to work (hot works, work at height etc) and currently possess IPAF certification at 3a level.
Scaffold Labourer at Interserve (2011-08 – 2012-08)
This role involved manual handling of scaffolding equipment on-site, loading and unloading scaffolding planks, poles, and fittings from truck beds and carrying them through site to the works they were used on. The scaffolders would request equipment to be brought across which I would go to collect; regular communication meant I would bring the correct equipment, or let them know when it was necessary to return to storage in order to bring more out. Due to the heavy construction nature of the site, strict health and safety rules were followed in full PPE, good spatial awareness and manual handling practices were also key in navigating heavy scaffolding equipment through site, sometimes through relatively small areas.
Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Electrical & Electronic Engineering – University of South Wales (2011-09 – 2015-07)
