Beth Brown

My strongest skills are in research and writing. Although I prefer to work alone, I am also an empathetic communicator and I can easily integrate into a team. I have just graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a first class degree in History. I speak Spanish to a B1 level, and I have some experience in marketing and customer service.

I have experience in content writing as a features writer for Screenrant. Working as a Resident Assistant in University Accommodation, I gained skills in data protection as well as the security of alarmed doors and lock-boxes. Working both as part of a team and independently, I also gained skills in event planning, marketing, and management within a budget. The role additionally developed my skills in communication and customer service.

I like to work hard, keep busy, and make an impact on my community. I have worked as a volunteer with LEAPS delivering workshops that promoted higher education to students in underprivileged Scottish schools. I also volunteered in the university history library, where I handled check-ins, check-outs, filing, shelving, and uploading new items to a database. Balancing several voluntary roles alongside my university studies, I additionally took part in an ideation project for the reduction of fuel poverty in a housing association.

I can use Microsoft and Google applications effectively and I have also used Wordpress, Canva and Mural. I am good at quickly learning how to use new websites and I am a quick learner generally. I enjoy learning and I am skilled at researching information, as well as communicating information and ideas clearly and concisely. I speak Spanish to a B1 level.

In August 2022, I gained a Scottish MA (equivalent to a BA) in History with First Class honours from The University of Edinburgh. I have A-Levels in History (A*), Biology (A*), and English Literature (A); as well as an AS-Level in Chemistry (B). I passed eleven GCSEs, including Mathematics (A) and English Language (A*). My education has provided me with high-level skills in research and writing, among many other soft skills such as team working, time management, and independent working.
